SHARP - Slip-Sweep and Harmonic Removal Procedure
The SHARP (Slip-sweep and harmonic removal procedure) is a patented WesternGeco technology that enables the use of the slip-sweep acquisition technique without harmonic contamination and with increased productivity.
The slip-sweep vibroseis technique has been used for many years to increase productivity by enabling data recording from a series of overlapping sweeps from different groups of vibrators. However, the technique suffers from a fundamental data quality problem associated with additive noise related to unwanted harmonic noise from adjacent vibrators. This issue has significantly limited adoption of the slip-sweep acquisition methodology. SHARP technology attenuates the problematic harmonic noise and allows the full benefit of the slip-sweep technique for productivity improvements.
Improved Imaging and Productivity
The SHARP slip-sweep procedure can benefit our clients in many ways, for example: While maintaining the same survey design,
- The surface acquisition rate can be increased (higher productivity).
- The survey could be acquired with different parameters - longer sweeps or a higher density of source points - within the same time frame.
