The WesternGeco EM-Connect tool is a plug-in for Petrel software that permits the maximum utilization and exploitation of electromagnetics (EM) data by allowing integration to be intrinsic to the entire EM workflow, from feasibility and survey design to inversion and final interpretation. The dynamic and flexible Petrel environment also facilitates close client communication and collaboration.

Survey Planning

Survey planning, a crucial step in EM exploration, can be completed by a multi-disciplinary team within Petrel software using EM-Connect technology.

EM Data QC

EM-Connect technology facilitates the QC of acquisition geometries and processed EM data in the form of absolute or normalized magnitude versus offset (MVO) and phase versus offset (PVO) plots.

EM Visualization

1D, 2D, and 3D models, inversion results, and derived products can be loaded into Petrel software in the all-in-one project database and viewed in the Petrel environment to facilitate interpretation.

Collaborative and Integrated Interpretation

Our EM-Connect tool provides a common environment for technical teams to collaborate in; facilitating teamwork between EM experts, who may be primarily working with specialized EM software, and seismic and geology experts primarily working with Petrel software.

EM-Connect enables the integration of EM with seismic, well log, and other geological, geophysical, and reservoir data during all phases of EM survey planning, execution, and interpretation. All EM datasets then have full access to the utilities and features of the Petrel application.
