GEM-Valve Retrievable Wireless Surface-Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve
The GEM-Valve safety valve is an electromagnetic, surface-controlled subsurface safety valve (SCSSV), utilizing the proven self-equalizing flapper valve design, for securing wells containing a damaged or nonexistent control line.
Avoids or delays workover
The valve is a fail-safe, wireline-retrievable safety barrier that allows operators to keep producing safely while hydraulic control lines have failed. It can be set at depths of up to 300 ft, regardless of tubing profiles—in any seating nipple profile, or anywhere else using monobore technology, freeing up the seating nipple for other applications. No control line, workover, or wellhead modification is required. The flapper can be accessed directly by slickline.
Supplies operational flexibility
- The GEM-Valve safety valve is not affected by the presence of sour gases or sand.
- The downhole battery has a minimum life of 9 months, although monthly performance tests are recommended.
- The GEM-Valve surface control hardware is adaptable to any instrumentation system, allowing operation from facility control rooms.
- The valve is installable in a wide variety of completions and well pad/platform configurations, including tubingless and nippleless completions.
- The GEM-Valve safety valve enables simultaneous drilling and production on platform/pad wells.
