Analyze Borehole Seismic Results from Multiple Acquisition Scenarios
Schlumberger Data & Consulting Services (DCS) experts routinely analyze borehole seismic results from multiple acquisition scenarios: checkshot (CSS), zero-offset (VSP-V), offset (VSP-O), and walkaway (VSP-W).
Multiples analysis
Surface seismic processors can analyze and identify surface, interbed, and reflected multiples in VSP data to adjust deconvolution parameters to remove multiples.
Attenuation analysis
Application of direct analysis and measurement of attenuation (Q) from VSP data in surface seismic processing can significantly improve stacking and deconvolution of surface seismic data.
Phase and amplitude analysis
Since the phase of VSP data is well known, matching the phase and amplitude of surface seismic to that of the VSP will “whiten” surface seismic to near-VSP frequencies, improving the resolution of stratigraphical and structural boundaries.
Elastic wavefield analysis
Analysis of three-component VSP data provides compressional-to-shear mode conversion depths and shear wave velocities. These are vital for surface seismic acquisition design and data processing. The P-S wavefield can also produce higher resolution seismic images.
