Borehole Imaging and Delineation

High-Resolution Borehole Seismic Imaging and Interpretation

Our Data & Consulting Services team can effectively interpret data from surface seismic sources placed either at a single point (offset VSP), along a single line (2D walkaway seismic profile, or vertical incidence VSP), or in an areal surface array (3D walkaway seismic profile).

We provide high-resolution imaging of specific reservoir features around and below the wellbore, such as lateral and vertical reservoir limits, fault block delineation, pinchouts, and so forth.

Salt bodies

Salt bodies often cause undesirable effects that limit the resolution of surface seismic data, which can have a subsequent impact on the proper delineation of reservoirs. In these situations, survey optimization is essential for success.

Our specialists can design innovative VSP survey techniques to position seismic sources for optimal subsurface coverage. We can implement these using either wireline downhole systems or our seismicVISION seismic-while-drilling technology. Rapid processing of your VSP data enables accurate reservoir evaluation, resolution of any deeper targets present, and estimation of the distance to nearby salt flanks.

Crosswell imaging

Crosswell imaging propagates seismic signals between wells. Downhole seismic sources populate depths in one well and downhole receivers populate depths in another well nearby.

Crosswell seismic surveys render high-resolution seismic images that can solve many development and production problems, especially in mature and complex reservoir environments. These images allow you to study key reservoir features, such as compartmentalization, bypassed producing zones, thin beds, and subseismic faulting.
