Integrated measurements
The ICD integrated cement design service utilizes all relevant LWD and laboratory measurements to provide successful cement placement and evaluation. Facilitated and informed decisions can be made to improve zonal isolation. Using the CBT cement bond tool, the USI ultrasonic imager, and the UCA ultrasonic cement analyzer, the process integrates all the physical parameters of a well, including
- borehole geometry
- geology
- drilling fluid characteristics
- drilling and cement properties
- pipe centralization techniques.
Cement evaluation
ICD integrated cement design includes a thorough cement evaluation for effective zonal isolation. A conclusive description of cement-spacer and cement-mud contaminations (at temperature and pressure with respect to time) allows for a time-optimized evaluation of zonal isolation. This knowledge significantly reduces unsuccessful and unwarranted remedial jobs.
Proactive engineering process
To achieve improved zonal isolation, the ICD process begins either during drilling using an LWD caliper log in real time or after drilling using a wireline calipers log and the WELLCLEAN II numerical cement placement simulator. Cement design parameters are modified in real time during drilling, and cement placement scenarios are generated with real-time caliper data.
