Performance & Capacity De-bottlenecking
Technologies that extend life, capacity of aging topside water, sand facilities
As the reservoir and production facility matures, the likelihood increases that the topsides water and sand-related equipment will become ineffective. An increase in the water production profile beyond the nameplate capacity of the produced water treatment plant is a common problem.
Typically, the problem is compounded by the start of more significant sand production. Existing equipment can become capacity constrained, obsolete, blocked with sand, eroded by sand, or it might never have performed satisfactorily in the first place. Regardless, they all lead to the same problem and will struggle to maintain performance and availability.
In response, M-I SWACO developed technologies designed to expand significantly the operating envelope of existing equipment. Our De-bottlenecking solutions improve both capacity and performance. These are simple, as wells ass cost, time and space- efficient upgrade options, superior to standard equipment replacement solutions.
These technologies allow excess water and sand to be either:
- Preseparated upstream to ensure the design capacity of the existing plant is not exceeded
- Processed by the existing plant, which has been upgraded with new internals to handle these increased phase loadings.
These solutions are bespoke and optimized to meet the requirements of the specific application while operating within the constraints of that process.
