Innovative scale-inhibition technologies for the most demanding conditions

M-I SWACO Production Technologies has developed comprehensive scale-control technologies and processes geared for the most complex projects. Our Scale management strategy addresses issues surrounding complicated well completions, HTHP, deepwater and other harsh environment production and stricter environmental regulations.  Our arsenal comprises a comprehensive line of scale inhibitor chemistries and deployment techniques, focusing on three niche areas:

• Continuous scale-inhibitor injection via gas-lift system
• Preemptive squeezing of reservoirs using non-aqueous base scale inhibitors
• End-capped polymeric scale inhibitors

Our prescreening process identifies where problems are likely to occur

Based on available data from the well or process system, M-I SWACO Production Technologies uses computer-simulation software, such as the Petrotech MultiScale^ package, to predict and evaluate scale potential and risk. Our highly trained and knowledgeable personnel assess the results, which are used to evaluate scale potential and the process environment. This evaluation becomes the basis for a chemical screening and the selection of products for laboratory testing.

We prove our products’ environmental compliance for every application

Before any product can be used in the field it must first be approved by the M-I SWACO GLP-approved ecotoxicological laboratory in Bergen. This laboratory ensures all proposed products comply with each country’s environmental requirements. M-I SWACO performs a variety of ecotoxicological tests, including biodegradation (OECD 306), bioaccumulation (OECD 117, 107) and toxicity testing.
