The GLYDRIL system is an enhanced-polymer, water-based drilling fluid employing polyglycol technology for unmatched performance and HSE acceptability. The GLYDRIL family of glycol-enhanced systems delivers a high level of drilling fluid performance beyond that of conventional polymer–based fluids.

The GLYDRIL family generates a high degree of shale inhibition, wellbore stability, High-Temperature/High-Pressure (HTHP) fluid-loss control and lubricity.  Because no two wells are alike, M-I SWACO offers a range of glycols to meet all of your drilling needs:

GLYDRIL GP Polyalkylene Glycol

Recommended for medium-to-low salinity systems

GLYDRIL GP polyalkylene glycol is a broad cloud-point, wide-molecular-weight-range additive designed for medium-to-low salinity GLYDRIL GP polyglycol systems.  It improves shale stability, lubricity, high-temperature filtration control, while also minimizing dilution rates and bit balling.  GLYDRIL GP additive is recommended for freshwater to seawater polyglycol systems.  While polyglycols are most effective when used in conjunction with an inhibitive salt in non-dispersed polymer systems, they can be used as additives in most water-base systems.

GLYDRIL MC Polyalkylene Glycol

Recommended for medium-to-high-salinity systems

GLYDRIL MC polyalkylene glycol reaches its cloud point in medium- to high-salinity GLYDRIL systems and can be used in wells with moderate formation temperatures.  GLYDRIL MC additive is recommended for seawater or brine formulations with salinity greater than 30,000 mg/L.
