Torque-reducing lubricant for SILDRIL system
SILDRIL EPL lubricant is designed to reduce torque, drag and the potential for differential sticking in the SILDRIL silicate-based drilling fluid. SILDRIL EPL lubricant reduces the coefficient of friction and thins the filter cake. Typical friction coefficient reductions of 25‐35% have been observed.
Applications
Normal concentrations of SILDRIL EPL lubricant range from 2 to 4% v/v, depending on the mud density and desired reduction in coefficient of friction. After the initial treatment, periodic treatments should be made to maintain the desired concentration.
Higher concentrations can be needed for pills and special applications. Treatment levels and product usage depends on the rate of penetration, solids‐control equipment and dilution rates. SILDRIL EPL lubricant should be added slowly, directly to the active mud system.
