Ultra-low viscosity shale inhibitor
HIBTROL ULV ultra‐low‐viscosity polymer is a high‐performance, modified cellulosic polymer providing cuttings encapsulation and filtration control in water‐base drilling fluids. It is effective in a wide range of muds, from freshwater to saturated saltwater. HIBTROL ULV additive provides improved shale control and is primarily used in weighted systems to avoid an uncontrollable viscosity build‐up.
HIBTROL ULV polymer forms a thin, resilient low‐permeability filter cake that minimizes the potential for differential sticking. It also inhibits the invasion of filtrate and mud solids into permeable formations.
Because of its extremely low viscosity, HIBTROL ULV polymer can be used at higher concentrations than regular HIBTROL polymer to provide additional benefits in HTHP fluid‐loss control, shale control and lubricity with minimal viscosity increase. This allows systems that depend solely on HIBTROL ULV polymer to tolerate higher levels of low‐gravity solids. HIBTROL ULV additive resists bacterial attack and does not require a biocide or preservative.
