ECLIPSE Thermal software together with Petrel seismic-to-simulation software, enables reservoir engineers to model thermal recovery processes in reservoir management. The ECLIPSE thermal simulator uses an implicit well model with a multisegment wellbore representation, including realistic crossflow, accurate pressure losses, and well topology. The simulator also allows analysis of oil, gas, water, and solids behavior (useful with chemical reactions), and of dead-oil or live-oil models. With the ability to simulate the most complex of oil reservoirs, the ECLIPSE suite is the leader in reservoir simulations today, simulating 61% of the world's 400 major fields.
Performance
ECLIPSE Thermal is part of the ECLIPSE reservoir simulation suite from Schlumberger designed to model thermal recovery processes. A comparison of ECLIPSE Thermal with a competitor's thermal simulator shows that the ECLIPSE software is considerably faster in CSS and SAGD models. In addition, the combination of ECLIPSE Thermal and Petrel software, provide state-of-the-art visualization and interpretation, detailed well model (multisegmented well) including intelligent completions, and seamless access to workflows such as uncertainty analysis and optimization.
