Image Reservoir Formations

Overview Library

Today's imaging services deliver more than the big picture. Basin-scale images locate prospects beneath salt or other "hard-to-see" structures. LWD images tell the driller not just where the bit has been but what's ahead. Borehole images play their own part in reducing drilling uncertainty. And EM- and sonic-based images identify pay between existing wells.

Seismic Imaging

  • Q-Marine for Subsalt
An integrated acquisition and processing technique for subsalt imaging draws on the capabilities of Q technology to improve drilling success rates and to reduce risk in subsalt exploration.
  • Wide-Azimuth Marine Seismic Acquisition
Seismic surveys that acquire data from more than one azimuth deliver more information about deepwater salt domes and the sediments below them. The ability to record data while turning the vessel makes nonconventional acquisition geometries possible.
  • Coil Shooting
Seismic data acquired by streamers from a single vessel moving in circular patterns contain reflection information from the full range of azimuths, accurately imaging sediments beneath hard seafloors and salt, basalt, and carbonate layers.
  • ISIS Simultaneous Inversion
The ISIS method gathers all seismic data at once and inverts for angle-independent quantities. It can handle several different types of seismic datasets: AVO converted wave, time-lapse full-stack seismic data, and time-lapse AVO.
  • VISION Logging-while-Drilling Service
A range of LWD services is available to improve imaging. With the latest Q-Borehole integrated seismic system, the seismicVISION seismic-while-drilling service delivers traditional borehole seismic measurements, real-time checkshots, and interval velocity data to reduce uncertainty ahead of the bit.

Telemetry Systems

  • TeleScope MWD Service
Maximized telemetry enables logging in greater detail to improve reservoir understanding. The TeleScope service incorporates the Orion II telemetry system—which means sending data in real time is now possible even at the depths of today's deep- and ultradeepwater operations.

Borehole Imaging

  • VISION Logging-while-Drilling Service
A range of LWD services is available to improve imaging. The sonicVISION sonic-while-drilling service measures velocity in real time to help improve NPT and reduce drilling costs.
  • VSI Seismic Imager
The VSI imager delivers superior borehole seismic images by reducing signal distortion. For efficiency in time-sensitive deepwater operations it can be combined with other wireline tools.

Crosswell Imaging

Deep-reading services provide detailed images of the reservoir between wells. Our range of multimeasurement services facilitates identification of hydrocarbons and determination of water saturation, making drilling and EOR strategy decisions easier.

  • DeepLook-EM
This crosswell electromagnetic system expands the scale of resistivity logging from the near-wellbore environment to reservoir monitoring.
