mcrVISION Resistivity LWD

Propagation Resistivity Measurements

The mcrVISION service gives you reliable propagation resistivity measurements for hydrocarbon pay identification in both high- and low-resistivity formations. It can be used for real-time correlation while drilling, washing down, reaming, or tripping—with low lost-in-hole risk.

Measurements are made at 2 MHz and 400 kHz. The 2-MHz measurements give dependable results in a wide range of formations. The 400-kHz measurements increase accuracy in low-resistivity formations. Blended 400-kHz and 2-MHz curves let you optimize real-time resistivity measurement in low-telemetry-rate environments.

All measurements are borehole compensated to remove rugosity effects and electronics drift.

Efficient, low-risk operations

A retrievable and reseatable downhole tool unit minimizes lost-in-hole risk and improves operational efficiency. The unit is seated in a 4 3/4-, 6 1/2-, 6 3/4-, or 8 1/4-in slick collar that is electromagnetically transparent. Up to 300 h of battery and memory life lets you make long bit runs without servicing or replacing the unit.

MWD service combinations

Combining the mcrVISION tool unit with a SlimPulse MWD tool provides real-time resistivity, direction and inclination (D&I), and gamma ray. The combined tools are retrievable and reseatable.

Using mcrVISION LWD with the PowerPulse MWD telemetry system increases real-time data density. This allows formation evaluation at high drilling rates, in some applications. The mcrVISION tool unit is still retrievable to reduce lost-in-hole exposure.

Rapid logging while tripping

You can record memory data at two samples per ft while tripping at speeds of 1,800 ft/h. This logging while tripping (LWT) saves operational time and improves logging success in difficult environments. Combining rapid LWT with wireline ABC analysis behind casing can nearly eliminate logging time from the critical path.
