Fast and reliable sidetracking

The Trackmaster openhole sidetracking system delivers faster, higher-quality sidetracks, with maximum probability of success on the first attempt and considerable savings in materials and rig time.  It provides a positive means of controlling the kickoff depth and orientation with the 3° steel ramp of the whipstock. This feature eliminates the uncertainty of kicking off with a cement plug, which often requires expensive repeat attempts because of the many factors affecting the success of the plug. A clean, smooth transition is created for directional and horizontal applications, with lower bending stresses in the drilling assembly.

In addition, there is no need to wait for the cement plug to cure (approximately 24 h) or time-drill through the cement. The system is especially useful when drilling medium to hard formations or landing laterals with tight TVD tolerance, when a cement plug cannot guarantee a successful sidetrack.

With no packer element, running in hole is faster, and the large ID of the Trackmaster OH-C system enables cement to be pumped at a higher rate.  These factors, combined with the elimination of time wasted waiting for the cement plug to cure, and a reduced interval for time-drilling, result in significant savings in rig time.

Either PDC or roller cone bits, and the directional assembly of choice, can be used to sidetrack and drill ahead.
