Hydraulic Pulling Tool

The hydraulic pulling tool retrieves downhole tools with standard wireline profiles. A collet mechanism latches the tool onto the fish with weight down, and the tool is released from the fish when set-down weight and differential pressure are applied. By pumping fluid through the tool prior to latching, debris or fill material is washed from the top of the fish, ensuring a secure latch. The collet system also provides maximum fishing neck contact for heavy jarring operations. The hydraulic pulling tool requires neither shear pins nor drop balls to release because the activation differential is provided through circulation through an insert in the core. The tool can retrieve standard wireline profiles, but is not to be used in wireline applications.

Advantages

  • Fluid activation
  • Multiple latch and release capabilities
  • External fishing neck catching
  • Redress not required after each latch
