TCT Two-Cone Drill Bits

Reliable & Durable, Even in the Harshest Environments

TCT two-cone drill bits have a unique cutting structure that exploits the bit characteristics. These bits have lower tooth counts than three-cone bits, but a higher point loading per tooth, meaning improved penetration. They use a dual-seal system to deliver a high level of reliability, durability, and seal integrity, even in the harshest environments.

Five-nozzle configuration

The two-cone design uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) algorithms to optimize nozzle positioning. Designs can incorporate five nozzles, including four outboard and one center jet used with V-Flo vectored flow configuration to improve cone cleaning and cuttings evacuation. The nozzles are precisely positioned and directed for increased ROP, and they create more options for direction as compared with three-cone bits.

Specialized forging design

Developed using the IDEAS platform, an extensive forging design includes four points of stabilization to reduce vibration. The lug pads and leg backs are protected by tungsten carbide inserts (TCIs) to stabilize the bit and ensure a full-gauge wellbore. The placement of these items, along with the forging geometry, increases bit life and ROP.
