The PowerDrive vorteX RT powered rotary steerable system (RSS) with wireless communicator combines the power of the PowerDrive vorteX RSS with the confidence of wireless, real-time information. The system takes performance drilling one step further by providing near-bit information above and below the BHA components, allowing you to accurately reach your target in less time.
Advantages of a powered RSS plus a flexible BHA design
With a completely flexible BHA design, any Schlumberger RSS—PowerDrive X5, PowerDrive Xceed, or PowerV service—can be used, depending on drilling conditions. The system has the ability to jump any power section or mechanical BHA component such as third-party reamers.
Real-time wireless communication around the motor
Addressing the increasing importance of near-bit information in landing wells and remaining in the reservoir sweet spot, the PowerDrive vorteX RT RSS sends real-time wireless communication from above and below BHA components. The electromagnetic induction propagation (IMAG) communication system uses antenna coils to generate and detect an electromagnetic field, allowing a jump over 20 m, and runs in all formations. Real-time gamma ray, resistivity, and neutron density information can be used for geosteering, choosing formation boundaries, and navigating thin beds.
