CTXR Closed Tubing Explosive-Actuated Release
The CTXR closed tubing automatic gun release, which incorporates X-Tools perforating gun-activated completion tools technology, is used to automatically drop tubing-conveyed perforating (TCP) guns to the bottom of the well after they are fired
This operation is extremely important in unconsolidated formations where sand production is a problem and in highly deviated wells where drop-off must be initiated quickly to move the gun string into the rathole. Operational efficiency is also improved, and tubing fouling risk is reduced by dropping the guns without intervention. In addition, when the guns are fired in a closed system in which the tubing pressure is less than the wellbore pressure, the CTXR gun release disconnects the TCP guns.
Dropping the gun string removes all CTXR parts from the tubing, leaving the tubing fully open. The tailpipe incorporates a mule shoe-type wireline reentry guide, and the firing head and no-go landing nipple are dropped as one piece for easy fishing.
The CTXR is compatible with a range of firing heads including bar hydrostatic, hydraulic delay, trigger charge, ProFire programmable, and eFire electronic firing heads.
The CTXR gun release is designed for standard sweet service, but H2S-compatible versions are available at reduced pressure ratings. Other options include choice of connecting threads and housing materials.
