WellWatcher Flux Digital Sensor Array System

Overview Library

The WellWatcher Flux digital sensor array system has permanent sensors that enable deepwater operators to measure reservoir properties without choking back the well or delaying production. Such measurements were not previously possible in subsea producing wells because of problems involved in deploying the sensors.

The WellWatcher Flux system uses electromagnetic induction for wireless communication and power transmissions between the upper and lower completions. Its inductive coupling feature, fully integrated into the completion hardware, allows high-resolution digital sensors to be used on the sandface. The result is a robust system, particularly in the presence of downhole debris, vibration, and potential wellbore misalignment. Combined with thermal modeling software, the system allows flow events to be interpreted even in high-angle wellbores.

The field-proven system lets operators

  • identify the most prolific producing zones
  • characterize flow profiles along the sandface
  • monitor reservoir changes
  • make decisions quickly
  • better control assets
  • optimize production.

By analyzing the downhole data with modeling software in the operator's office, the WellWatcher Flux system provides flow information in real time without the delays associated with field visits.
