Identify Fluid Content to Differentiate Oil-Base Contamination
Increase sampling efficiency
The LFA live fluid analyzer analyzes fluids as they flow through the MDT modular formation dynamics tester. The analyzer detects and measures dissolved methane in the live fluids, which are pressurized reservoir fluid samples that remain in single phase. Oil types can be differentiated.
Make accurate real-time decisions
The presence of oil-base mud (OBM), or synthetic OBM, requires quantifying and monitoring oil-base filtrate with the reservoir hydrocarbons flowing through the MDT tool. The downhole analysis of the flowing fluid leads to confident, real-time decisions during the job and leads to a more accurate understanding of the fluid for better characterization.
Achieve single-phase sampling
The LFA module features a sensitive and reliable gas detection system. This system monitors the fluid flowing from the reservoir. A single-phase fluid sample is captured by adjusting the flowing pressure.
At certain wavelengths of near-infrared light, the molecular bonds specifically associated with a hydrocarbon fluid vibrate. This vibration results in an absorption of light. Measuring the light absorption at these wavelengths can identify a fluid as a hydrocarbon.
