Creating a reservoir model to understand caprock integrity
To understand caprock integrity over the life of a project, a model of the reservoir examining the dynamic effects of the steam injection (stress variation, occurrence of fracturing or formation shear as a result of injection, and mechanical property response to thermal input over time) is essential. Postinjection modeling allows Schlumberger to advise operators on an injection scheme that will maximize production while minimizing risks associated with caprock integrity.
