Evaluate sites using our unique measurement and modeling tools
Once selected, we characterize the site in detail using proprietary (risk-based) detailed evaluation techniques, tailored to the special needs of CO2 storage:
- The geological structure of the site may be imaged from the surface using seismic data or other technologies
- Wells can be drilled and rock properties investigated using logging tools; rock and fluid samples can be taken for laboratory measurements
- Injectivity can be assessed using fluid flow testing.
Findings are integrated to produce models of storage performance, together with plans for monitoring and risk mitigation. These models examine geochemical and geomechanical processes to simulate and test a range of scenarios covering injection rates, fluid displacement, CO2 trapping, and containment performance.
